Woolpit Room Christian Fellowship
So here we are in February, when, traditionally, our thoughts turn to love – well, for one day, at least!
So often our love can be fickle and based on our feelings. Dave Willis, an American pastor, said this in the context of marriage: “Love is not merely a feeling; it’s a commitment. It is not defined by emotion nearly as much as it is by devotion.”
Consider how you could devote yourself to displaying your love more regularly, maybe by committing to being more kind, by saying something positive and encouraging, or by a thoughtful act, even when you may not feel like it.
These words from the 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 are sometimes read during a wedding ceremony: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Just think what this world would be like if we all lived by these words – and not just within our marriages.
As always, if you need a chat, I am happy to speak with you.
Our regular services and events at Woolpit Room are still on hold but we are meeting via online video calls, which is a great way to see each other and keep in touch.
If you would like to join our 10.30am Sunday services, please ask and I can send you an invitation.
