Woodbridge Rotary Club

On August 27th, Woodbridge Rotary Club is organising the 2nd Deben Marathon along with 3 other walks around the Deben in aid of Macmillan Cancer. The walks are as follows; Deben Marathon, which starts at Suffolk Coastal District office. The duration is 12 hours and the distance is circa 35 miles. The minimum donations for adults is £20 and children (18 and under/students) is £5 (fee includes ferry ticket). Registration from 7am to 7:30am.

North Deben Bank Walk: You will need to register at Suffolk Coastal District Office, Melton. There is a free bus to Bawdsey Quay. The duration of the walk is 7 hours and the distance is circa 18 miles. Minimum donations for adults is £10 and children (18 and under/students) is £5. Registration from 9am to 9:30am.

South Deben Bank Walk: You will need to register at Suffolk Coastal District office, Melton. There is a free bus to Felixstowe Ferry. The duration is 5 hours with a distance of circa 15 miles. Minimum donations for adults is £10 and children (18 and under/students) is £5. Registration from 9:30am to 10am.

Family Walk: Starting from Ramsholt Arms. With a duration of 3.5 hours and a distance of circa 8 miles. The minimum donation for adults being £5 and children (18 and under/students) being £2.50. Registration from 11:30am to 12pm. Please note that walkers will need to organise transport from finish back to the start.

The marathon can be walked as a team event. A team will consist of minimum 4 walkers with each one walking one of the stages, for example, Melton to Waldringfield, Waldringfield to Felixstowe Ferry, Bawdsey Quay to Ramsholt and Ramsholt to Melton. The minimum donation for a team of 4 is £7.50 each member of the team.

The club has raised funds for the Macmillan Woolverstone Appeal last year which contributed to the family room in the new cancer ward. The money raised through the walks will go to funding all the consumables in the family room for the coming years.
