The Osiligi Maasai Warriors are to perform at St Mary’s Church, in Mendlesham, on Friday 20th October at 7.30pm.
The concert is part of their 2017 UK tour, which also takes in the counties of Berkshire, Oxon, Somerset, Devon and Gloucestershire. The tours serve to make audiences aware of the Maasai culture, help to raise money for troupe members and their families, and most wonderfully, with the help of Osiligi’s charity, build an infrastructure for their community, taking them out of the total poverty they were enduring.
Since the charity was founded, they have seen the building of a new school, a new church/community centre, a new clinic, a new orphanage and fresh water. Indeed ‘Osiligi’ means ‘hope’ in the troupe’s language, and that is what they have been given. It is a wonderful, worthwhile story.
Their performances are a sensation to watch with all audiences, aged five to 95, being enthralled and excited by their natural rhythm and song. This is an opportunity to experience and enjoy the diverse culture of the Maasai.
