On May 6, I was delighted and honoured to be elected by the people of the Peninsula Division to be their next county councillor.
While canvassing in April, I spoke to well over 500 residents in different parts of the peninsula and was overwhelmed by the support shown to me and the welcome given by the people I met. We live in a very beautiful part of the country and it was lovely to be able to get out and about again and visit areas I had not been to for some time.
As a new councillor, it is very much a learning process at present. I am attending courses run by the council and will be attending parish council meetings all over the peninsula.
I know that people are concerned about development, busy roads, lack of public transport and safe cycle routes and will be focusing on those areas as well as other concerns that are brought to my attention. Please get in touch with me and I will try to help.
I would like to pay special tribute to my predecessor, Dave Wood, who gave 21 years of service to the county council and was responsible for the designation of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, among many other achievements.
I would like to thank all those who helped me in the recent campaign by delivering leaflets, and in other ways, and, of course, those who voted for me. I hope to repay your trust and confidence in me.
