Somersham Baptist Church – A Christian Year

The Christian season of Lent began in February. We have hardly recovered from Christmas and we are looking towards Easter! Christmas is much easier to handle than Easter: a baby Jesus in a manger is safer than an adult Jesus dying on a cross. Babies are easier to love than adults too, though Jesus did not develop a selfish nature as we do, he did develop a perfect life and a challenging teaching ministry.

The adult Jesus ‘tells it like it is’ and calls us to change and follow him. He
makes it possible by wiping our past clean through his death.

Pentecost is the next date in the Christian calendar in May. Pentecost is great news as Jesus gives us the power to live for him with the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is wonderful that the Christian year is all about Jesus.
