Skulduggery In Stowmarket
Online on Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 April
Stowmarket Library is pleased to announce that it will be running the fourth Skulduggery in Stowmarket crime festival on the last weekend of April.
Skulduggery in Stowmarket is a literary event featuring talks and interviews with the best crime and mystery writers in the country. This festival has become an important date on the Stowmarket calendar with feedback from previous events including “brilliant, wish I had done both days”, “lovely atmosphere”, “exceptionally well run” and “sparkling!”.
Unfortunately, last year’s festival had to be cancelled because of the first Covid-19 lockdown. This year, with Covid-19 restrictions still in place, the Skulduggery team at Stowmarket Library has come up with a brilliant alternative.
Rather than let the event pass for a second year, they contacted Simon Brett and Michael Jecks, two of the country’s leading crime authors, and asked if they would give interviews live online. They were delighted to support the library service and the people of Suffolk, so this year’s festival was rescued.
Join in on Saturday 24 at 11am as Michael Jecks, author of the Templar and Jack Blackjack series of historical mysteries, talks live to our interviewer about the pull of historical plots and his writing life. On Sunday 25 at 11am, join in as Simon Brett, OBE, author of the Charles Paris, Mrs Pargeter, Fethering and Blotto & Twinks crime series, talks live online to our Skulduggery interviewer about his writing, characters and the
secrets of cosy crime.
Participation is easy via the library website and these live interactive events allow viewers to post their own questions to these two fabulous authors.

Planning is also well underway for the 2022 Skulduggery to return to its usual face-to-face format with 10 authors speaking over two days, 23-24 April 2022.
