A Thought for The Month
As I write, the coronavirus pandemic continues to be extremely serious and is devastating the lives and livelihoods of many individuals and families. As a church, like many others, we are praying for those affected, as well as those involved in medical care.
One aspect of this whole horrid business that is especially disturbing is the failure to realise that God may be speaking to the nations through what is
happening. In Britain this is not so surprising. We haven’t been listening to him for many years, preferring to do what is right in our own eyes. Not listening to God’s words, he speaks through providence, can be very painful.
Perhaps not so many are familiar with the plagues of Egypt when God he sent one plague after another upon the country because Pharaoh wouldn’t listen, the final and worst being the death of the first-born. At last Pharaoh listened, albeit only for a time.
Scientists and medical experts may gain success over the virus. For that we
shall be thankful but if we are still not listening to God, what next?
Here is something especially for our young friends: Boys and Girls, have you found our Children’s Corner? Look on our church website www.needhamchurch.org.uk and click on the Tab marked ‘Children’ then follow the link to Children’s Corner where you will be able to hear exciting stories from the Bible.
On January 13 we took the painful decision to close our place of worship for services and meetings with immediate effect. We will still transmit Sunday services at 10.30am and 6.30pm by YouTube and Zoom, and our Tuesday Bible Study/Prayer Meeting at 7pm by Zoom. Everyone is very welcome to join us.
You find out how to access these services and meetings, please visit the home page of our website. If you don’t have access to the internet, you can join by telephone. Please dial 0330 088 5830. The meeting ID is 678 027 3322 and the password is 828694.
On Friday 19 February we have our Coffee Plus online meeting at 10.30am. Please make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and join us via Zoom or telephone as above for a time of friendly chatter. For further information, please contact Peter: 07570 558072 / [email protected] /
