Making Jetty Lane A Reality
We’re living in extraordinary times. Society is locked down in a way that was inconceivable a month or two back and this situation may continue for quite a while.
We need to Stay At Home
Locally, Woodbridge has established an Emergency Response Group (WERG), providing support for all residents in the wider Woodbridge area: picking up prescriptions, shopping, food bank, even a friendly call for people feeling low or lonely.
If you want to either volunteer or request services contact them on 01394 383599 or [email protected].
We all know the Jetty Lane building will have a 125-year existence in front of it as a community resource – but right now, we all need to pull together as a community, and need to do so ‘virtually’. So, we’re setting Jetty Lane up, virtually.
What can a virtual Jetty Lane do? What about Jetty Lane providing an online place for local people to improve their well-being by sharing images, photos, and stories via our Facebook page and Twitter feed. For example, we’ve heard of some home workers ‘at’ work who, instead of ‘dress down’ Friday, did a ‘dress up’ Friday and sent in photos of themselves in costume sitting at their home-made workstations. We could have a weekly theme.
And maybe some of the future hirers can run online taster classes, or provide virtual entertainment online.
Do you have any other ideas to beat the isolation blues?
Email us on [email protected] or post direct to our Facebook page – facebook.com/JettyLaneWdb or Twitter – www.Twitter.com/JettyLaneWdb.
And then again, there’s virtual fundraising. In your enforced free time is there anything you could do to help us raise funding, awareness or support? For example, could you run an online quiz, do a sponsored exercise bike tour de Suffolk, or how about masterminding a letter-writing campaign to famous people? Anything to get the message about Jetty Lane out there and the funds coming in whilst creating some welcome distraction for yourselves. The world is our oyster!

So far we have raised £250,000 but we need another £3.5 million. Yes, that’s right. It’s a lot. Building a thriving community resource and legacy for Woodbridge doesn’t come cheap. But, we can do it with your help.
Pennies turn into pounds. If you’d like to donate, please do so at jettylane.org/donate or send a cheque, made payable to Jetty Lane CIO, to: The Treasurer, 31 Hilly Fields, Woodbridge, IP12 4DX.
