Great Blakenham Parish Council Update
The next meeting is scheduled to be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday 8 July in the Parish Room. Due to COVID-19, the meeting is likely to be held electronically. Details of this and how residents can participate will be on the agenda, which is displayed on the council noticeboards (outside the Parish Room, outside Budgens, outside Jack Brand’s and on Masons Drive) and on our website and social media (details below).
Everyone is welcome at council meetings, whether held electronically or in the Parish Room, and there is a 15-minute public forum where you can ask questions or raise issues related to the work of the parish council. We have now held two meetings electronically and the council would like to thank all those residents who joined us and for their co-operation in making the meeting run smoothly and productively.
COVID-19 has disrupted all our lives and the council would like to thank all those in the village and the wider area who have reached out to and continue to help vulnerable residents, particularly the Bus Shelter Ipswich who have opened a foodbank at Claydon Community Centre, Families in Need Suffolk who run a food bank for Ipswich and the surrounding villages and the Claydon and Surrounding Villages Support Group.
By the time you read this, the four new litter bins for the village hall playing field should have been installed. The council has installed a number of dog waste and rubbish bins over the last few years, but dog waste and litter are an ever-growing problem in the village. Please use the bins provided and set a good example to the inconsiderate minority who can’t be bothered to walk a few yards to the nearest bin. If you think there is a need for a bin in a particular area, please contact us and we will see what we can do.
Stay safe and well. Thank you for reading this and for your interest in the work of your parish council.
