Fynn Valley’s past Lady Captain Sally Crosbie had a memorable visit to Magpas Air Ambulance HQ in November, when she presented them with a cheque for £2,150, raised during her captain’s year.
Sally’s husband Bob (Club Captain at Fynn Valley) accompanied her, along with Jilly Tye (the new Lady Captain), Sharron Cozens (her vice-captain), Sally and Bob’s son Ben – whose accident prompted Sally’s choice of charity – and Ben’s wife, Sarah.
It was Ben’s first visit to the base since his accident in August 2016, and he was able to speak to the pilot who flew him to Addenbrookes. The group were also able to sit in the helicopter and ask questions from one of the doctors on duty, all very informative and interesting.
It is sobering to think that the money raised doesn’t cover even one day of the cost of running the helicopter (this is £3,320), but, of course, every little helps.
The Crosbies are as a family obviously so grateful to Magpas for providing the critical care Ben needed before airlifting him to hospital, and pleased to report he is continuing to make a good recovery. Indeed he was roped in to man a hosepipe to clean the helicopter!
Sally is also grateful to the members of the golf club who supported the charity throughout the year.
