Stowfiesta 2019

StowFiesta, the biggest free music festival in Mid Suffolk, returns for its thirteenth year as part of the Suffolk Day Big Weekender.

StowFiesta, which takes place at Chilton Fields and is organised by Stowmarket Town Council, will be held on 22 and 23 June. The festival was originally launched in 2007 as StowFest before evolving into the more family orientated StowFiesta in 2014.

Sponsored by Total Driving and supported by Mid Suffolk District Council and Stowmarket Rugby Club, StowFiesta has always focussed on providing a mix of quality live music, featuring both covers and original bands and covering a wide range of genres. Among the acts playing on Saturday 22 are the talented and diverse covers band Chart Attack, the multi-talented loop-pedal expert Modern One Man Band, the brilliant seven-piece ska band Rude and Reckless and the dynamic rock band Walkway. Sunday kicks off with Andy Ottley’s popular Elvis tribute act and will feature the rock and roll piano wizardry of Phil Jackson and his band, the brilliant rockabilly band Chuck Wills and the excellent Americana band The Bay Horse Boys.

As well as the live music there will be various free family activities including a climbing wall, circus skills workshop and a bouncy castle. There are also free pitches up for grabs for charities and not for profit organisations. Interested groups should email: laurenb@stowmarket.org

David Marsh, Events and Theatre Manager at Stowmarket Town Council, said: “It’s going to be another great event. We always tweak things from year to year to ensure that the festival improves and grows. We’re holding this year’s event as part of the Suffolk Day Big Weekender, so we’ve got a bit more of a focus on Suffolk based acts and we think we’ve got the right balance between covers and originals. There’ll be plenty of opportunity for people to have a boogie! One of the things about StowFiesta that is always popular, and something of a rarity, is the free family entertainment, so people don’t have to break the bank paying for the children to go on loads of stalls and rides.”
