Funding has been confirmed from ‘Culture Ireland’ (an Irish organisation which funds professional Irish musicians appearing in the UK) and from Stowmarket Town Council for the festival which will take place over the weekend of 26th – 28th April this year. The Apex concert hall in Bury St Edmunds was packed to the rafters for Radio Suffolk’s Carol Concert on 1 December in aid of Children in Need. A varied programme included local choral society Stowmarket Chorale, a brass band, a children’s choir, readings, and opportunities for the audience to sing along. Museum of East Anglian Life’s Guinness World Record!

The Museum of East Anglian Life has just set its first Guinness World Record after successfully creating the Longest Suffolk Puff or yo-yo caterpillar. Throughout last year, more than 350 museum visitors and members of the local community cut out fabric, sewed, gathered and threaded puffs onto strings. A total of 5,864 puffs were finally strung together to make a caterpillar that measured 90 metres, 38 centimetres – that’s nearly four times the length of our 13th century barn! Local Artist at the Royal Academy Exhibition

Stella Davis from Onehouse, was very pleased when she heard that her screenprint image Journey had been accepted for the Royal Academy of Art’s annual exhibition. Because it’s the 250th anniversary, the RA removed the cap on entries so there were over 20,000 applications from members of the public this year. A total of 1351 pieces of art were chosen to make up the exhibition which runs until August 19.
