East Bergholt United FC

December was very much an up and down month for the First Team. They started positively with victory over Westerfield, the third win on the bounce. There was also a five goal success over Felixstowe Harpers, but that was sandwiched between two five goal reversals at Cranes and Henley and the team completed 2017 with a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of near neighbours Capel. However, 2018 started well. The Green Boys were pitched against the favourites for the League title in the eyes of many, Achilles, in Round…

Ipswich Ravens Volleyball

The seasonal weather and illness caused last month’s indoor six-a-side competition at Northgate School to be scaled down, there was no Division 2 competition and just six teams entered Division 1 including Ravens men. They were able to continue their policy of providing opportunities to their junior boys to compete at adult level, with two under-15s in the team, and once again they were very pleased with the outcome. They finished second in the initial pool phase with a good win and a narrow defeat against the two Ipswich teams. This…

Introducing Suffolk Crafted

Words by Chris Lupton People want more space for all sorts of reasons. Moving house is one option, but it can cost £15,000 to do it, on top of the extra £30-40,000 you would pay for the extra space. There are other advantages to having a space separate from the main house: it’s quieter, so you can concentrate or relax properly; it’s soundproofed from the main house if you (or your…

Poppy Appeal 2017

Poppy collections can take place officially from Saturday 28th October for house-to-house collectors and static collection points. It is often noted that people in the public arena (TV presenters and the like) wear their poppies before the ‘official’ dates for Remembrancetide. This is not illegal or wrong contrary to popular belief. The problem is that often ‘selling’ poppies is confused with ‘wearing’ them. The Royal British Legion have a licence to collect all year round, but have an agreement with other major charities to keep main ‘street’ collections within their own dedicated…
