Piano Recital For EACH

Alison Bestow and Claire Vane are holding a piano duet concert on Saturday 24th March at 7pm at the Royal Hospital School in Holbrook and would love to have your company in the audience. The concert will be held in the music school with the school’s finest grand pianos. The aim is to raise £1,000 for St Elizabeth Hospice. The programme has something for everyone; Mozart sonata for two pianos, K448, Schubert Rondo in A major, D951 and a number of dances and light-hearted pieces including Tea for Two, Hava Nagila and Country Gardens. NYCGB GCSE & A Level Composition Day

The Royal Hospital School Music School were delighted to be able to host a GCSE and A Level composition masterclass which included over eighty pupils and staff from other schools across the region. The event was supported by the 8 Fellows of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB) and the day was led by composer and Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, Dr Toby Young. RHS Celebrates John Rutter

On Saturday 9th December, the Royal Hospital School will be kicking off the festive season with a celebration of the music of its Patron of Music, John Rutter. The Cambridge-educated composer has produced some of the most popular Christmas music of the past 50 years, including Shepherd’s Pipe Carol, composed when he was just 18, and the magnificent Gloria (which will start the concert). Royal Navy At RHS

Aching muscles and sore bruises were forgotten for pupils of Royal Hospital School when they took third place at the Junior Leaders Field Gun competition, one of the toughest physical contests of its kind. The team from RHS dismantled and re-assembled a 1.5 tonne field gun while hauling it from one end of a Royal Navy parade ground and back again competing against teams from across the country. Simon Tripp at RHS

On Thursday 12th January 2017, Warrant Officer First Class Simon Tripp, the Corps Bandmaster of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, will be returning to the Royal Hospital School in Holbrook to give a lecture on life as a military musician.
