Sproughton Community Shop

Words by Rosalind Lavington We hope you will forgive us for not having wished you all well last month. So, we wish you all a prosperous New Year now! I’d like to start by thanking all our volunteers who kept the shop open during the week between Christmas and the New Year. Then there was that very demanding day when the manual stock take had to happen, followed the next day by the spring clean so that we were able to start the New Year in good clean order. On…

Jack Sheppard

It is appropriate to look back at 2017 and forward to what 2018 might hold for Sproughton’s trials motorcyclist. The main focus has been the British Senior Championships, which comprised eight events in various parts of the United Kingdom, but none of course in East Anglia where there are no venues capable of hosting such events. In fact, Jack’s nearest suitably challenging practice areas are located in wilder parts of Derbyshire and Yorkshire, rather a long way to go just for a few hours. The series went well until the…

New Wolsey Theatre’s 2018 Spring Season

This spring, the New Wolsey Theatre will present the premiere of Our Blue Heaven, a brand new musical in celebration of 40 years since Ipswich Town’s historic FA Cup Victory. The production runs from Friday 4th to Saturday 26th May. With a hasty wedding, a first birth and missing tickets to contend with, will our mad-keen Ipswich fans make it to the final? Idelo Travel

Words from Managing Director Andrea Powell When I first set up my business I was totally new to travel. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant, all of my experience came from simply being a customer who had travelled. People asked me how I could possibly do this – after all there was ‘the internet’, the ’Big Boys’ and so on – but I think this was an asset. Being an outsider and new to the industry, it made it legitimate for me to ask why, to challenge the perceived wisdom.…

Connecting Communities

Can you find the transport you require? This is the story BSEVC often hear. “I’m cosy in my room, legs up on the recliner, TV on and a cuppa beside me, but I’m feeling lonely and isolated. My life could be so much richer and happier if only I could get to the local coffee morning and chat with real live people. I worry so much about imposing on busy relatives to get me to my health appointments. I want to visit friends and wander at leisure round the local…
