It’s going to be a busy rest of the year for your local RSPCA Branch, with (fingers crossed) a new shop opening in Stowmarket and the new kennels at our Martlesham Animal Centre progressing rapidly.
The RSPCA Suffolk East & Ipswich Branch has its animal centre at Martlesham, but helps animals across the area, including Stowmarket and its environs.
Jean Short, Honorary Chairman of the Branch: “The exciting news for us is the opening of a new RSPCA charity shop at Unit 6, Wilkes Way, near ASDA. It’s our first shop in the area and we’re hoping that it will raise the profile locally for our rehoming work and veterinary care schemes. We’re just sorting out all the paperwork, but will be looking for volunteers and donations in the autumn.”
Project Winston, the £420,000 building project at the RSPCA Animal Centre at Martlesham, is continuing apace, with both the new support unit and isolation kennels reaching the roofing stage. Led by local contractor R G Carter, the build will replace six of the animal centre’s oldest dog kennels with up-to-date facilities, as well as building a new support block.
To date, the branch has raised in excess of £300,000 for Project Winston, and is creating a sponsorship scheme as well as asking supporters to organise fundraising events. For more information visit: www.ipswich-rspca.org.uk.
